Caught making out in the park? You may face a short stretch in the prisons of UAE, which takes a dim view of public displays of affection. There have been several arrests in recent years for kissing and petting in public, which is considered a violation of the country’s decency laws. So hold your love and tenderness for when you get to your hotel room.

Anyone who has designs on traveling after graduating from high school might want to give the UAE a miss: it is illegal to stay in a hotel if you’re under 18, unless accompanied by an adult.
