Boeing Emirates will now offer a non-stop flight between Dubai and Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey.
The new daily 11:50 am flight option will coincide with Emirates' existing service to Newark, which includes a stop in Athens, Greece.
The airline says that the US to Indian Subcontinent market is their "biggest traffic flow," accounting for 1/3 of the airline's entire US business.
Business Insider says that their connection to Dubai didn't happen overnight.
They explain, "Over the past three decades, Emirates built quite a business for itself connecting the world through its home base in Dubai, United Arab Emirates."
The EK224 flight will take customers from Newark to Dubai, linking them to 15 cities in India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh served by Emirates.
Matthias Schmid, Emirates' senior vice president for North America adds, "You have two carriers (in the New York tristate area) that operate directly into India, but that's really pretty much it."
